Support for Undergraduate Scholars in Mathematics and Computer Science

General Information

Scholarships

Truman State will award at least 29 scholarships per year for the next four years to talented students majoring in Mathematics or Computer Science.
Scholarship awards can be up to $3100 per student, depending on demonstrated financial need as defined by the U.S. Department of Education. Recipients must be U.S. citizens.
Recipients who are making satisfactory progress toward a degree and who continue to be Mathematics or Computer Science majors may apply for renewal.
In awarding the scholarships, particular attention will be focused on students in underrepresented groups, including minorities and (in computer science) women.

Program Features

Besides receiving the scholarship, recipients will become part of a community of undergraduate scholars in Mathematics and Computer Science.
Support will be provided in the form of career guidance, private tutoring and community building.
Support will also include travel to companies to see how math and computer science are used in the workplace.

Application Process

Scholarship recipients must apply to and be accepted by the University. The following materials are required to receive a scholarship:

A completed Truman admission application. (There is no application fee.)
All finalists for the award will need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

Selection Process

Applications will be reviewed by a committee of faculty in Mathematics and Computer Science. Finalists will be contacted to let them know about their status and request Financial Aid information.
